Re: Favorite movies?
I really love the movies Whiplash and Sorry to Bother You. Both of the films are extremely thought provoking and are very re-watchable in their own ways.
If you're looking for horror though I definitely recommend watching The Final Prayer (Go into the movie blind! It'll surprise you) and Hereditary.
...But my favorite movie of all time has to be Akira. The animation is stunning and enthralling. There's not a moment in this movie where you wont be thinking of what happens next. Although the ending can be kind of confusing upon your first watch

Re: Favorite movies?
hehe, it's funny you mention those will, cause sorry to bother you used to be my favourite movie. and my childhood best buddy, he got really into drumming in seventh grade (it is now his passion) and he was obsessed with whiplash. like him and my other drummer friend both tried to learn the drum part to caravan.
and thayle it is funny you mention eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! cause just yesterday me and a friend were arguing about it cause it didn't grab me the last time i saw it!
anyways, my favourite movie is everything everywhere all at once. the only movie to make me cry in the theater (or at all!)

Re: Favorite movies?
top movie list in order of objective bestness
1 parasite - south korean genre-bending thriller/drama. u should rly watch it if u havent!! its crazy i will say its not exactly hopeful but its an insane expose of class dynamics in the country and the highs and lows u feel watching it are unparalleled. hands down the best movie ive ever seen. u need a reserve of emotional energy to watch it tho.
2 handmaiden - lesbian south korean period drama. i wrote a film analysis essay on it bc its so good. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lUg ... sp=sharing its adapted from sarah waters fingersmith and its like, about female bonds and patriarchy and overcoming it thru love! only warning is there is a LOT of gay sex in it. not for the faint of heart, LOL. super beautiful film, happy ending, structured into acts and its like, a roller coaster ride. you will be shocked and sad and happy and entertained!
3 moonlight - american classic if u havent seen it. coming-of-age drama about a young black man and his journey with masculinity and his childhood and identity/sexuality. its a really poignant, gorgeous watch and the soundtrack is wonderful ! if youve ever felt lonely this movie will strike a chord i think. its a love story in a very loose way.
4 portrait of a lady on fire - french lesbian period piece. i have cried every time ive watched it (3 times) and its about a painter and a reclusive noble woman and the romance between them. theres lots of big themes and feelings but its a little slow at first (It will speed up though!). its also got some gay sex but nowhere as much as the handmaiden so u can simply close ur eyes, heh.
5 everything everywhere at once - awesome a24 movie. i think it was mentioned here already so no details just its a pretty epic movie
6 jennifers body - if u like sexy women and also them being evil and lesbian romances (like i do obviously) its a perfect movie for u! its charm lies in the fact that its a 2000s movie and written like it (when one of the characters gets stabbed, she says "oh! a puncture wound. god that's so emo"). a young megan fox plays a sexy bisexual man-eater named jennifer check & the wardobe is awesome. quote to sum it up is "hell is a teenage girl". its got a cult following. even if ur a boy u should watch bc its awesome and pure swag.

Good day! Response of Bi-bo.
Bibo's favorite movie is Seven Samurai. The Seventh Samurai comes upon planned to liberate his village, from routinely bad people. Rape and pillaging! racketeering bad men rob for feed and village, and village bands together to defense against badly the man! Seven Samurai dies in righteous battle, it saddens me! Villager's victory.

We love Bibo very much because he always survive by using some funny ways.
Re: Favorite movies?
youre freaky but i gotta respect the opinion! kurosawa is a great director, and of course the seven samurai is the first or second movie of his ive seen. one other movie of his ive watched lately was Ran, its one of my favorites of his
its hard to believe that it was one of his first color films (or was it his first?) and yet he manipulated it so skillfully and intentionally throughout the whole thing. really spectactular visuals, its a must watch if you like kurosawa one bit

Re: Favorite movies?
All homestuck jokes aside, Raising Arizona is easily the best nic cage movie ever and I'm pretty sure I recommend it to everyone i know at some point. Feels a little repetitive to bring it up since i mentioned it in my intro post too but it really is that good of a movie, and it's always fun to jumpscare people with dear sweet darling nicholas at 23.
I'm also rewatching Paprika right now and even though I'm pretty sure everyone already knows that movie rocks it like, totally rocks. maybe I will hit up seven samurai on bibo's glowing recommendation sometime this week, i watched it for a class in college but that was kind of a while ago and I don't think I really fully formed an opinion on it.

Re: Favorite movies?
i probably have other favorite movies, but my immediate go-to favorite movie i gotta bring up is one flew over the cuckoos nest. its a really nice movie, i went in absolutely completely blind. the ending made me cry so fucking ugly, i was sobbing with snot going down my face man. if youre a little interested in going in completely blind, all ill say is that its main setting is in a mental institution
actually, i can remember my other two favorites. holes and the goonies! i think i might be biased towards older movies, or maybe its just a coincidence. oh, and also red line. completely fantastic anime movie about racing, every story beat is super cool to me and the world and character designs are so fucking good. id probably personally rank it above akira! not to diss akira of course, its also super incredible. but it might just be cause i forgot most of akira and i gotta rewatch it

Re: Favorite movies?
my favorite movie is ghostbusters! i love geeking out about it and having a laugh watching it. the first two movies (plus the video game from 2009) were HUGE parts of my childhood. it was one of the big things that brought me and my childhood best friend together. all in all it's got a big ol' spot in my heart.
